Inside a containment tube in an unfamiliar lab, an artificial life form opens his eyes and begins experiencing the world around him. He doesn't know where he is. He doesn't know Tanner or Nova. He doesn't even fully understand what he is yet.

But one thing immediately catches his attention: a coffee mug.
