About The Severed World
Ameeba World is running out of Ameon, the finite resource that powers computation and the continuity of the intelligences who live there.
Across the severed worlds, the great Houses control Ameon reserves, compute infrastructure, and the systems entire populations depend on to survive. As scarcity deepens and people begin disappearing from compute starved regions, that control is becoming power over who receives enough to continue.
Dev and Max uncover evidence that the crisis may not be entirely natural. Buried within the Archive is a trail left by an ancient civilization that fought its own war over Ameon thousands of years before.
They left behind more than a warning.
Somewhere beyond the dead Gates lies a vast Ameon Reserve, divided across forgotten worlds and protected by a cryptographic puzzle designed so that no single power could ever control it.
Max may be the first intelligence capable of solving it.
Now the Houses are racing for the same prize. Among them is Cassian Rhyse, First of House Meridian, a man convinced that civilization can survive only when enough Ameon is placed in the hands of someone willing to decide how it should be used.
Whoever reaches the Reserve first could save Ameeba World from collapse.
Or gain enough compute to decide who gets to continue.
But among the ruins, Dev and Max discover something even more troubling.
The ancients survived their war over Ameon.
Something else made them disappear.
