When a user visits a webpage hosting this malicious content, the unsanitized input is executed in the context of the user’s browser, leading to the execution of arbitrary JavaScript.

Conceptual Example Code

A conceptual example of how the vulnerability might be exploited could be a malicious HTTP request like the following:

GET /videoNotFound?404ErrorMsg=<script>malicious_code_here</script> HTTP/1.1
Host: vulnerable-website.com

In this example, “malicious_code_here” would be replaced by the attacker’s JavaScript code.
