The server, thinking the request is legitimate, sends the request to the specified endpoint. This can lead to unauthorized actions being performed on behalf of the server, potentially compromising other systems within the same network. In the worst-case scenario, this can lead to system compromise or data leakage.

Conceptual Example Code

Here’s a conceptual example of how the vulnerability might be exploited, in the form of an HTTP request:

POST /vulnerable/endpoint HTTP/1.1
Host: target.example.com
Content-Type: application/json
{ "url": "http://localhost/admin/deleteAllUsers" }

The above request tells the server to send a POST request to the `deleteAllUsers` endpoint on the local host. In the event that a patch is not immediately available or cannot be applied, a Web Application Firewall (WAF) or Intrusion Detection System (IDS) can provide temporary mitigation. These systems can be configured to detect and block potentially malicious requests, preventing the SSRF vulnerability from being exploited. However, this should be seen as a temporary solution, and applying the patch should still be the ultimate goal.

Overview Today we are focusing on a severe cybersecurity vulnerability, CVE-2025-46385, which poses a significant threat to data integrity and system security.
