Attackers can craft malicious serialized objects that, when deserialized by the vulnerable application, can execute arbitrary code. It represents a HTTP request with a malicious payload that exploits the vulnerable deserialization process.

POST /vulnerable/endpoint HTTP/1.1
Host: target.example.com
Content-Type: application/json
{ "malicious_serialized_object": "..." }

In this example, “malicious_serialized_object” represents a serialized object that an attacker has crafted to include malicious code.

Mitigation and Prevention

As with any security vulnerability, the best course of action is to apply the vendor’s patch as soon as it is available. In this case, AncoraThemes is expected to release a patch addressing this issue.
