An attacker with subscriber-level <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-46625-root-shell-access-exploit-in-tenda-rx2-pro-router\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"42907\">access can exploit<\/a> this flaw to change the passwords and email addresses of arbitrary users, including administrators. Once the attacker has control over an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-2775-unauthenticated-xxe-vulnerability-in-sysaid-on-prem-versions-leading-to-administrator-account-takeover\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"43826\">administrator account<\/a>, they can take over the entire WordPress site. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2023-36864-integer-overflow-vulnerability-in-gtkwave-3-3-115-with-potential-for-arbitrary-code-execution\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"42502\">vulnerability can also be combined with CVE-2025-3609 to execute code<\/a> remotely, even if the attacker was initially an unauthenticated user without an account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conceptual Example Code<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"ameeb-2175000464\" class=\"ameeb-content ameeb-entity-placement\"><div class=\"poptin-embedded\" data-id=\"f6b387694f681\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/div>\n<p>Below is a conceptual example of how this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-1305-cross-site-request-forgery-csrf-vulnerability-in-newsblogger-wordpress-theme\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"42518\">vulnerability might be exploited using a HTTP POST request:<\/a><\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"\" data-line=\"\">POST \/wp-admin\/admin-ajax.php HTTP\/1.1\nHost: target.example.com\nContent-Type: application\/x-www-form-urlencoded\naction=wpstpt_update_user&amp;user_id=1&amp;user_pass=new_admin_password&amp;user_email=attacker@example.com<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>In this example, the attacker is sending a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-4829-critical-buffer-overflow-vulnerability-in-totolink-http-post-request-handler\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"52887\">POST request<\/a> to the `admin-ajax.php` endpoint, which the Reales WP STPT plugin uses. The `wpstpt_update_user` <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/the-rising-tide-of-cybersecurity-threats-against-financial-services-a-call-to-action-for-cios\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"56380\">action is called<\/a>, which updates the user&#8217;s details. The `user_id` parameter is set to `1` (usually the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-6080-unauthorized-admin-account-creation-in-wpgym-wordpress-gym-management-system-plugin\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"80583\">admin user in WordPress<\/a>) and the `user_pass` and `user_email` parameters are set to the attacker&#8217;s desired values.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitigation Guidance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WordPress administrators using the Reales WP STPT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-47884-jenkins-openid-connect-provider-plugin-vulnerability-leading-to-unauthorized-access\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"50017\">plugin are advised to apply the latest patches provided<\/a> by the vendor. If a patch is not immediately available or cannot be applied in a timely manner, using a Web Application Firewall (WAF) or Intrusion Detection System (IDS) could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-4578-sql-injection-vulnerability-in-file-provider-wordpress-plugin\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"58799\">provide temporary mitigation against this vulnerability<\/a>.
