GTKWave is a fully featured GTK+ based wave viewer for Unix, Win32, and Mac OSX which reads LXT, LXT2, VZT, FST, and GHW files as well as standard Verilog VCD\/EVCD files and allows their viewing. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-32444-remote-code-execution-vulnerability-in-vllm-integration-with-mooncake\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"41869\">vulnerability can lead to arbitrary code execution<\/a> if a victim opens a specially crafted malicious .lxt2 file. An attacker can specially craft a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2023-35989-integer-overflow-vulnerability-in-gtkwave-s-lxt2-zlib-block-allocation\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"41930\">.lxt2 file that triggers this integer overflow<\/a>, leading to an out-of-bounds write. This could potentially allow the attacker to execute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2023-35995-gtkwave-array-index-validation-vulnerability-leading-to-arbitrary-code-execution\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"42017\">arbitrary code<\/a> on the victim&#8217;s machine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conceptual Example Code<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"ameeb-1347158104\" class=\"ameeb-content ameeb-entity-placement\"><div class=\"poptin-embedded\" data-id=\"f6b387694f681\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/div>\n<p>The following pseudocode is a simple representation of how the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-47154-exploitation-of-use-after-free-vulnerability-in-libjs-in-ladybird\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"42354\">vulnerability might be exploited<\/a>:<\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"\" data-line=\"\">int rows = INT_MAX;\nint *array = malloc(sizeof(int) * rows);\nif (array == NULL) {\n\/\/ Handle error\n} else {\n\/\/ The array is larger than what can be allocated, leading to an integer overflow\n\/\/ and potential out-of-bounds write, which can be exploited\n}<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>In the above pseudocode, `INT_MAX` is a placeholder for a large number that causes an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2023-36864-integer-overflow-vulnerability-in-gtkwave-3-3-115-with-potential-for-arbitrary-code-execution\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"42463\">integer overflow<\/a> when multiplied by `sizeof(int)`.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recommended Mitigation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The recommended mitigation for this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameeba.com\/blog\/cve-2025-49002-critical-vulnerability-in-dataease-bypassing-patch-for-cve-2025-32966\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"64187\">vulnerability is to apply the vendor patch<\/a> as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, Web Application Firewalls (WAF) or Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) can be used as temporary mitigation.
